I am a sucker for downtown areas. I love that I can park the truck (in a good, not-so-crowded area) and walk up and down a street for all kinds of new and different local businesses.
I love seeing clothes crafted by a local girl, smelling candles and soaps made by a brother-sister team, hearing a local Indie band jam in a nearby coffee shop, tasting a gooey chocolate from a chocolatier, and watching happy families come out of little hole-in-the-wall cafes and Italian restaurants holding their full bellies and smiling.
I've only spent one day on historic 25th street in Ogden, Utah. Every time I go back through the pictures to share another little shop though, I desperately want to go back.
The adorable Queen Bee is calling my name right now.
Are you a fan of downtown areas? If so, do you have a favorite?
I have seen so many downtown areas over the years, I'm not even sure I can pick a favorite!
Also, you may recall that I had my gestational diabetes test last week. I got my results back yesterday and I passed with flying colors. I did come back extremely anemic though and we found that interesting because lately I've wanted massive hunks of beef for every meal. I normally balk at the idea of meat as anything more than a condiment but I have scrapped our dinner menu SEVERAL times here lately in favor of a bun-less burger (normally my least favorite GF option), chili, beef stew, meatballs, etc. I guess now we know why!

So glad you passed the gestational diabetes test! And if you like downtown areas, come to New England! We totally rule the world of downtowns. :)
ReplyDeleteThank you, me too!!
DeleteI can't wait!
I am a total sucker for downtown areas, too. Love the pictures.
ReplyDeleteAren't they just so fun and cute?!
DeleteThank you!
It's good that you listened to your body and ate meat!
ReplyDeleteThat area looks so cute, and that shop looks so full of fun!
Yeah, let's not be TOO generous with how well I listen to my body. I also give it Cheetos when it wants and then feel like I'm dying.
DeleteI think it was one of my favorites on that street, aside from the maternity store of course. I love little shops like that.
That shop looks adorable. I love little downtown areas like that.
ReplyDeleteI got anemic when I was pregnant, too. I had been taking gummy prenatal vitamins because I'm six, but it turns out they didn't have iron. Also, until that time, I didn't know that your body absorbs iron supplements better with some acid, like orange juice.
Thanks for telling me that, I'd never heard! I've had issues with anemia my whole life so I shouldn't have been surprised by it, but I AM surprised to hear about acid since I've had a lot of years to be given that vital information!! I like fruit and yogurt for breakfast most mornings so I'll have to get some acidic fruits for now. =]
DeleteI know exactly what you mean about hole in the wall restaurants and quirky local businesses. My hometown doesn't have a huuge downtown or anything, but it will always have a special place in my heart because I grew up hanging out in those shops.
ReplyDeleteThey just always hold so much more meaning than a Starbucks or a Walmart ever could!!
