| I finished reading The Girlfriend's Guide to Pregnancy (definitely recommend, so informative in a fun way) and almost perfected a grainless chocolate-coconut mug cake, baby book time, gluten free cupcakes from Gourmet Fresh Bakery in Layton, a delicious meatball dinner, amazing cinnamon chai latte sugar scrub from Scrubxury which I won in Eliza's big giveaway |
I have to tell you a funny story.
That Scrubxury scrub, which smells amazing, says you need to keep it out of your mouth even though it smells good. I cracked up when I saw that because it reminded me of a pretty important little gem of family history.
When my cousin was really little, maybe three or four, we all went up to the mall for a girl day. We of course stopped into Bath & Body Works and sniffed candles, bought tiny lotions, and tried out some cool new product they had called a sugar scrub. We each got a dallop of the vanilla-and-brown-sugar scented scrub in our palms and scrubbed away so we could rinse it off in their sink and feel it's silky wonder... except for the little cousin. She sniffed it, smiled, and licked it. It did not taste as good as it smelled and she immediately began to cry. She cried loud, sobbing tears and said "I d-d-don't l-l-like it," before licking it again because, well, there are starving kids who'd love to have that.
Even though the Scrubxury smells even better than that Bath & Body Works stuff did, I knew to heed the warning and not lick it all because of my cousin. My hero.

What do you think, does Belgium seem like the most underrated country in western Europe to you?

I definitely hope to spend a Christmas in Germany someday so we can go play at the Nuremberg Christmas Market!
-
Elizabeth's Washington mini-trips are always so fun to me!
-
Christine is such a seasoned traveler and her 2012 was just nuts! This little year-in-review makes our 2012 travels look laughable!

The Arizona Russums share their favorite Australia moments of 2012.

Flying with babies and two places I'm excited to see while in Utah: Mill Creek Canyon and the Browning Kimball Car Museum.

Cinnamon Chai Latte scrub sounds amazing! Maybe I prefer salt scrubs because I won't be tempted to eat them. ;)
ReplyDeleteThe Nuremberg Christmas Market sounds like a little slice of heaven to me. I could spend days at a place like that! But for someplace a little closer to "home," check out Bronner's (http://www.bronners.com/) in Michigan. I've never been there, but I've ordered plenty of gifts from their catalog!
It is wonderful! I know most people see a big difference between salt and sugar scrubs, but I honestly don't. They always feel the same to me!
DeleteYay, thank you for sharing that with me! I always love a good Christmas place so Bronners is now on my list!
LOL. I remember being a teenager and everyone having those Lip Smackers chapsticks that smelled so, so good and so much like foods you love, but tasted like wax! Yuck yuck!
ReplyDeleteOh goodness ha ha, yes! I had so many of those and they all tasted so disgusting!
DeleteI made a scrub a couple weeks ago with raw sugar and coconut oil. Needless to say, I totally ate some of it and I scrubbed some on my body! That is so funny that your cousin licked it again, though!
ReplyDeleteI have a friend who spent a semester of high school in Belgium, and just based on her Myspace(I think that's what we had at the time) photos, I wanted to live there!
Mmmm, why not?! Depending on how long you planned to use it, you could even add in some fruit juice and then it'd be even yummier!
DeleteI don't think I actually know a single person who has ever been to Belgium! Most of my friends/family have either stayed in the US or gone to more tropical locations. One friend spent a semester in London but I think that's about it!
Hey thanks for stopping by my blog! Btw - the upside down deal actually is pretty ingenious. This story is so cute! I have trouble with great smelling lip glosses - even if they taste okay (how can you not taste something on your lips??) I still get a little worried that I'll get carried away and start eating it like food. Is that weird? (yes haha!)
ReplyDeleteYou're welcome! If you use it, I hope it works out!
DeleteHa ha I have tasted fruit gum before and felt like that too! Luckily, fruity gum is only THAT good for about five seconds and then it's just-okay again. ;]
hah! that story of your cousin made me laugh. i get headaches really easily, so i can't go into bath and body works often. but i have been in there a couple times, and once (years ago) they tried to put colored hair mascara in my memaw's hair. :)
ReplyDeleteI actually get headaches in there too sometimes. Certain scent combos are just too much for me!
DeleteAnd that sounds awesome ha ha!
Haha I never thought of eating the sugar scrub, but I can see where a kid would get the idea :P
ReplyDeleteI have honestly never given much thought to Belgium, but it looks so beautiful! I'm a sucker for canals/beaches.
I agree! If it's called sugar and smells like candy... fair enough!
DeleteI had never thought much about it either but it does look and sound pretty great!
Wise choice getting a head start on the baby book! I didn't and now I'm pretty sure I won't have it all filled in until he goes to college ;-)
ReplyDeleteHa ha, I was just too excited not to! I mostly just filled in the family tree and mine & Ryan's history, nothing major. =]
DeleteI've never been to Belgium (I live next door in France) but I do think it's one of the most underrated countries in Europe (and Luxembourg, nobody every talks about Luxembourg). I'd love to go an see Bruges and eat frites :)
ReplyDeleteYou live in France, so neat! I always love it when people from other countries stop by here and say hi! I'm curious then, do you think any parts of Europe are OVERRATED? There are certain parts of the US I think are overrated, but I also think it's all personal preference... most of those places are big cities and they're amazing to other people, just not to me since I'm not a city girl!
DeleteSounds like you're on quite the adventure! Can't wait to read more about it and congrats on your first little one!
ReplyDeleteThank you! =]
