Sarabell's Day Out

Tuesday after my little shopping excursion at The Christmas Cottage I picked up a few new books at The Book Exchange and then treated myself to lunch at The Cheese Barrel.

Aw Wyoming, you're so pretty!

Have any of you read any of these? Diary of a Mad Mom-To-Be is fiction and the others are non.
I'm actually hearing the top one is kind of a dud, but I guess we'll see!
A lot of people have told me you shouldn't read pregnancy books because they'll freak you out. Not me. I find so much comfort in reading about a problem and then reading the low, low chance of it actually happening. I also do like to know what I'm up against so that if I'm told "Oh, you/your baby has blank," I can think back and say "Okay, so that's such-and-such. I know what that is. Where do we go from here?" as opposed to "OH MY GOD, WHAT?!?!!?"
They looked like dangling yellow hearts so I had to take a picture.
English Nosh (apple slices & cheese) with a cup of cauliflower soup!
(It normally comes with a delicious-looking cheese bread as well)
Afterwards it was on to swimming, and then home for chores and starting dinner!
(Tamales and my homemade Spanish rice, yum. I already miss those tamales so much I could cry!)
I finished reading What Alice Forgot (PhoBookClub Read, so I'll review it at the end of the month!) and then started on my next book, Great at Any Age.
How cute is that little sandwich holder for Ryan's lunches?! I got it for free. Ryan says he will never ever use it, but I say he can't control that if he forgets to check his lunchbox before leaving!
Or Baby Bell can use it when we go on our Mommy-Baby lunch picnics later on.

I got this book as a gift last Christmas and was really pretty pleased with it. It was neat to see so many different kinds of accomplishments (athletic, scientific, exploratory, musical, historical, and my personal favorite: writing-related) taking place at so many different ages. I think this would be a really cool birthday gift, and I think it'll be neat to read to little Randall or Henrietta on his/her birthday each year... well, starting at age four or five, methinks.

  2. I love the title "Babyproofing your Marriage." I'm terrified of what will happen to my marriage when we decide to have kids, so let me know how it is!

    1. I'm super excited for that one! Everything is going to be so different so I'm excited to see what kinds of tips they have for me! A few people have told me it's a little exaggerated though and that I shouldn't read it until the baby is already here.

  3. i read 'what to expect,' although it didn't tell me much that wasn't really common sense. that's kind of how i treat pregnancy anyway. it's natural. you're going to be a natural because this is what your body was made to do. :)

    1. I really like that one because of the weekly updates on the baby's development and size, but most of it is definitely common sense stuff. I guess there have been a few things I might just know from family members who recently had babies that someone else might not.
And thank you, that's definitely true!

  4. Let me know about the babyproofing one!

Vince loves tamales so much! We get this really great one from Bashas but they only have it some of the time so we always want to stock up, but have a tiny freezer so it doesn't work out.

I like the idea of reading the age book on birthdays!!

    1. I definitely will! I think it's getting its own post!
I always forget about Bashas'. There isn't one in Prescott and there isn't one in Casper so it's never on my mind anymore. I get our tamales at Smith's, which is our Fry's, but they are pretty expensive. I will have to check Bashas' if there is one in Utah though!
