After lunch Sunday we made our way over to Old Faithful because, well, who goes to Yellowstone and avoids Old Faithful?!
It happened to be right outside of our next hotel, so that was pretty awesome. We checked into the Old Faithful Lodge and were very excited by what we saw. Look at this!
Unfortunately there was an earthquake, I believe in 1959, that made the fourth floor and up structurally unsound for more than a few guests at a time so everything above the first three floors is now off limits. It was still really fun just to see it and enjoy it.
We grabbed a little ice cream (mango sorbet for Ryan and mint chocolate chip for me) from the Snack Shop, then took it up to the third floor to eat it and enjoy the view.
We spoiled our dinner a little with the ice cream, so we decided to do a little wildlife scouting before dinner.
Elk!
I'll share the last of our Yellowstone trip tomorrow.

Wow that lodge looks sooooooo cool! A little sad the upper levels can't be used but still an awesome looking place! ~ Naples Sara. p.S: mint choc chip is my FAVORITE!
ReplyDeleteI know, we really wanted to go all the way to the top and see the view but it was still cool from the third floor. I always say mint cc is among my favorites, but I think it really is my all-time favorite. =]

ReplyDeleteIt's so big inside! I love that it's all open like that.
ReplyDeleteSo did we. It was definitely the coolest man-made thing we saw on our trip. =]
