I figured it was time for a garden update.
I am not feeling so hot again today so instead of volunteering today I picked up my free water can and wet wipes, picked up my basket and came home. I can barely keep my eyes open now so I'll probably take a quick nap and then get a little more productive after I wake up and eat lunch.

| Bell pepper, finally turning red! |
 |
| Pumpkin... still no actual gourds. Any advice? |
 |
| Watermelon... still nothin' |
 |
| Squash and lettuce |
 |
| Strawberries, just as good as ever! |
And now for my Bountiful Basket
 |
| One of my favorite baskets yet! |
 |
Vegetables: lettuce, two leeks, three heads of broccoli, four ears of corn, six tomatoes, ten potatoes.
SEND ME YOUR POTATO AND LEEK SOUP RECIPES, STAT! |
 |
| Fruit: six bananas, carton of strawberries, five oranges, seven peaches, and six of a fruit I can't identify. Anyone? It's smooth, if that helps. |
I hope you all have a lovely Saturday and Sunday!
Love this blog...there's something for everyone.
ReplyDeleteI write and maintain a blog which I have entitled “Accordingtothebook” and I’d like to invite you to follow it.
I didn’t see a follow wedgit on this site, but if you put one up...I will gladly follow you publicly as well.
If you wish, click on “dashboard” on the top right of you main blog…then click on “add a gadget” on the left side column…scroll down and click on “Follow” widget and follow directions.
Oh and...I hope you enjoyed your nap.
Thank you! I'll be sure to check your blog out too!
DeleteWell you have to have blooms before you have fruit and it's getting close to veggie season being over. I have been known to use miracle grow bloom booster....good luck!
ReplyDeleteI keep getting blooms and they just sort of fade, never turn into anything else. =[
DeleteI did use a little miracle boost about an hour ago though, he he.
Your basket looks fantastic!! I'm not sure what the mystery fruits are.. hmm..
ReplyDeleteIt's definitely one of my favorites! I'm guessing they're a hybrid of some sort.
DeleteI am finally back to blog world so I am little bit late with thanking you for sharing my photos from Trogir, Croatia in you friday links few weeks ago :) More Croatia photos will come soon and I hope you will like them!
ReplyDeleteGlad you're back! No problem lady, I look forward to the rest of them! =]
DeleteAre they nectaries? Hmmm odd. What kind of seed is in them? Hope you feel better. Only thing to suggest about the squash and watermelon Iis they may need to be anted in the ground. Even if plants are small they still need a lot of nutrients from the ground. Some just aren't meant as container plants :( it could be too late in the season now. But super happy your strawberries lettuce and peppers are successful!!!! ~Chicago for now Sara
ReplyDeleteI don't think so because we have some nectarines right now and they're a lot bigger and orange-er. I haven't tried one yet so not sure about the seeds but I'll update when we eat some!
DeleteYou know, that's a really good point. I haven't seen any tips or anything on growing pumpkins or watermelon in containers in any of my container books. Maybe they do need to be in the ground!
The garden looks beautiful! It is coming along nicely. :) Mr. A has talked about maybe beginning a small garden next year.

Thank you! I hope he does! I'm excited to do another one next year. I definitely want to plant potatoes and onions next year too. =]
DeleteThey are pluots and are freaking amazing! I'ts a mix between a plum and apricot. Vince and I love them!
ReplyDeleteThe gardens looking good!
My aunt actually JUST told me that but she called them plumcots. =] (Texas)
DeleteThank you! We're getting a pretty good storm right now so we'll see if it survives some pounding rain and crazy winds! =/
I looked at the Bountiful Baskets blog and there was a link to a potato soup recipe! Sounds and looks good: http://www.formerchef.com/2010/03/29/roasted-potato-and-leek-soup/
DeleteOh perfect, thank you!! I have everything on hand for that so I'll probably make it tonight!
DeleteDo the veggies/fruits last awhile? It must be hard to try to cook with all of them so quickly, or at least I'd have a hard time with it. haha. Sorry you're feeling sick, hope you feel better soon!
ReplyDeleteI guess it depends on the basket, but basically yes. Sometimes you'll get something before it's really ready to eat, which is always awesome since it helps you space it out better, but not always. We eat a ton of fruits and veggies over here. Depending on the basket, sometimes it's all gone within the first few days and sometimes we do end up throwing a few random things together to use them up before they go bad, but we generally like everything we're given. (Except those damn grapefruits, yuck)
DeleteI make and freeze a lot of soups (sometimes REALLY random ones) so that definitely helps with that... and the fruit is almost never a problem.
Thank you!
