Bible in One Year Update

So as most of you know, I've been working through reading the Bible in one year. There have been a lot of interesting things in it I never knew, but last night something pretty amazing happened.
I was reading Ecclesiastes 3... which reads:

A Time for Everything

For everything there is a season,
a time for every activity under heaven.
A time to be born and a time to die.
A time to plant and a time to harvest.
A time to kill and a time to heal.
A time to tear down and a time to build up.
A time to cry and a time to laugh.
A time to grieve and a time to dance.
A time to scatter stones and a time to gather stones.
A time to embrace and a time to turn away.
A time to search and a time to quit searching.
A time to keep and a time to throw away.
A time to tear and a time to mend.
A time to be quiet and a time to speak.
A time to love and a time to hate.
A time for war and a time for peace.

The Byrds have a very similar song.
There are so many interesting sayings I always hear in the Bible but I certainly wasn't expecting that.
I found it quite interesting.

Also, I'm 100 days behind.
I'm trying. I really am. But it's the driest book in the world. But I'm still pushing through it.

  1. Great excerpt!!!! Are you reading it 'straight thru' ? I tried that in middle school and it didn't work.... I wish I could be one of those people who automatically knew which chapter and verse to refer to... Alas I need to do some Bible reading as well. Funny it really dies have pertinent text thousands of years later. God knew what was up ;) ~10 Days Sara!!!!

    1. Actually I'm using this chronological program http://www.oneyearbibleonline.com so it's a little all over the place but the story line goes straight through so it actually makes sense now! If you decide to do it, I definitely recommend following their timeline.

  2. I love that excerpt. My grandparents had it printed on something growing up so I practically have it memorized from seeing it so much!
